SPORTSMANSHIP AWARDTriple Crown Sportsmanship Award Triple Crown - Colorado Baseball launched its Sportsmanship Program in 2006. This program's goal is to emphasize positives around the ballfield and recognize young players who make it a priority to display positive character traits. Our thanks to GH Pin Company (www.ghpins.com) for partnering with Triple Crown to sponsor the Sportsmanship Program. Distribution of the Triple Crown Sportsmanship Awards At the start of each Triple Crown - Colorado qualifying tournament, head coaches will be given (2) Sportsmanship Award pins. Coaches will be asked to watch for extraordinary sportsmanlike acts by players on opposing teams (not their own teams) and to award the pins during that weekend's tournament. The pins will be a challenge to get because we should all expect a basic level of sportsmanship from all players. If players focus on sportsmanship but don't get pins during a weekend, the core goals will still be achieved. The real long-term reward is in playing the game with the right frame of mind. Rationale for Triple Crown Sportsmanship Program Triple Crown Baseball wants to focus on something positive in the face of increasing talk about negativity in youth sports. Given the fact that our Colorado Baseball Series involves over 1,800+ teams, the implementation of the award program is massive. We lack the ability to evaluate every game/every player with our own staff. We want the teams to evaluate opposing player behaviors and reward them accordingly. By having coaches award pins to opposing players, we hope to create an ongoing awareness of, focus on, and respect for sportsmanship. Parents and Coaches: Please have fun with this and let players know that sportsmanlike behaviors are as commendable as base hits, blazing fastballs and diving stops. Check-in at your site one hour before your first game. A: Schedules are released no later than 5 pm the Friday before the event weekend, or eight days before the tournament begins Q: Will my team throw off of mounds? A: Teams 11u and up will throw off of a combination of portable mounds and dirt mounds. There are no metal spikes allowed on any portable mounds Q: Does TCS provide baseballs? A: Teams are responsible for baseballs; we recommend 2 new and 1 used baseball per game. Any baseball with the NFHS stamp on it will suffice. Umpires have the right to refuse/throw out any baseballs they feel are not suitable for play Q: What is your refund policy? A: A 20% non-refundable administration fee will be charged on all registrations. There are no refunds or transfers if brackets have been posted, your age division is sold out or if a team cancels 10 or fewer days prior to the start of the event. Otherwise, if a team cancels 11 days or more prior to the event start date, they may transfer the registration to another Triple Crown Baseball headquartered event for full value or receive a refund via check minus the 20% administration fee. If an age division does not make you will be entitled to a full refund. Act of God Refund Policy If an event is lost due to weather or any Act of God (i.e. COVID-19), the entry fee will be refunded via check minus the 20% administration fee. If one game is played you will receive 50% of entry fee. If two or more games are played there is no refund. Q: What do the different divisions mean? D1, D2, D3? A: Division 1: Our top competitive level, which you will see listed simply as 9u, 10u, and so on. This is our most competitive division which includes “Select / Elite” teams and is also open to any team that wants to compete. Division 2: When you see Division 2 (or D2) after the age group, that indicates a bracket designed for teams that are not yet ready to compete with top teams. Division 2 is similar to the second-tier divisions you see in national sanctioning organizations. However, even if you are sanctioned as a lower team by a national sanctioning body, that does not guarantee you will play Division 2 with Triple Crown. Division 3: Includes teams that are less competitive than Division 2 teams. Here is how Triple Crown compares with other sanctioning bodies. However, we always encourage teams to play up. Division 1= Major or National Division 2= AAA or American Division 3= AA or Minor Q: Does Being penciled in Guarantee a spot? A: No, being penciled-in shows that your team is interested in attending. Only a paid registration in full guarantees your spot into the event. Triple Crown will attempt to reach out to teams as divisions are close to selling out but that does not always happen. It is the team’s responsibility to pay before the division is sold out Q: How do we complete the online digital roster? A: Whomever has access to your team's Triple Crown Account can log in and click on the roster tab. Add all the players names and birthdates with the parent contact information (name, number and email). Once the roster is complete, click the “Send Parent Authorization” button and it will send out the digital waivers to the parents to sign allowing their son/daughter to participate in the event. Any player that does not have the parent waiver signed, will not be allowed to participate. Q: What are the Triple Crown Rules? A: https://www.tccoloradobaseball.com/tournament-rules.html Q: How many events do we need to play in to qualify for the State Tournament? A: Triple Crown does not have a State Qualification process. Teams are free to choose to play in tournaments they feel provide the best experience for their players and families and are not bound to a certain number of events to participate in the State Tournament. Triple Crown reserves the right to classify (D1/D2) a team that has not played during the season. CONTACT |
